Could someone please put me out of my misery if they know if there is a difference between Jacobi and Jacobus in the early 1700s (in Elland).

I agree with Tati - basically it's the same name but the ending changes, depending on where it comes in the sentence.

Thank you. I asked as in the transcripts of the Elland Parish Registers by Calderdale FHS, I have the father of children given as Ja:bi or Jacobi but a possible baptism for this man as Jacobus.
I have an admission to make now; I did Latin for 5 years at Grammar School in the 1960s but being more scientifically minded I failed my O-Level miserably. Nevertheless, I should have known.
