Help on Allen family (William Allen)
« on: Tuesday 15 February 05 16:32 UTC (UK) »

Hi
I'm trying to track my Grandfather William Allen. Don't know too much really about my Grandfather. Born Belfast perhaps early 1890's ? He had two sisters Queenie and Dorothy and a brother Joseph. He came to Hull with his parents and I'm not sure whether his brother and sisters were born here or in Ireland. Worked on docks (unsure which one), married a lady called Daisy, they had 2 sons William born 1913 and Leslie 1915. William left her to live with my Grandmother Elsie Thornton (nee Cook)(divorced?), they had 2 daughters Margaret and Elsie (1925) but he is not listed as the father because my Grandmother Elsie Cook was still married at the time to a Harold Thornton. Elsie Cook died about 1928 not sure what of. William Allen died in Hull in the 1947ish of TB. Can anyone help me to find out about him?

Thankyou

This may not be of immediate help but perhaps on further research we might find a connection: My great-great grand father's name was William Allen. He was an engine driver in or around Lisburn in 1884. He had a daughter Margaret Ellen Allen.
