Thanks Phil for the opening times.

Paulene
It's interesting that mention the Stanton Ironworks - I don't know if there is any connection to my Stanton family - I haven't looked into this branch yet. My grandmother was a Stanton and married into the Manners family.

Interesting also that you picked up on the marriage of James Williams to Maria - I just noticed the connection myself - ooo la la - what was Maria like I wonder? She seems to have not trouble with suiters- now I know who I take after - I've been married three times.

The thing with the census, regarding your missing family, is that they may have been visiting out of the district and could be anywhere - it's a long haul I know. It took me ten years to find my 3xggrandfather Manners after the 1851 census - He came to Australia. I have had problems locating his father, which I suspect is because he may have been working on a ship. So you see there are numerous reasons you have trouble finding your Thomas. Also, as you noticed with my family - spelling of names causes problems too.

I'll  keep my eyes open for your family.

Thanks again for all your help

Unfortunately I don't know much about the Petford family yet. Kezia (or Casiah as she is sometimes known) Attwell I believe married Henry Petford. I don't have date as yet. I believe they had the following children, Hanna 1859, Annie 1863, Brodie 1866, Ada 1868, Fanny 1872 and Mary 1875.  Thats all the info I have on Petford but I do know a bit more on Kezia Attwell.

Her parents were William Attwell and Maria Richards. See my earlier post.

If this is your Kezia - Hello to my newest relative.

Thanks to all those who helped with the society information. I managed to spend half a day at the Dudley Archives - unfortunately only came away with one parish record. I only managed to search Dudley St Thomas between 1800 and 1826 then I ran out of time. Looks like I will just have to pay someone to sit down and do the search for me. However, I was pleased that they have so many parish records to aid in our research.
