Hi all those in Northumberland Grin

I am receiving some help from a family member in Durham from their records office on the condition that i find which is the local newspaper at the moment for Ashington, Northumberland so she can place an ad in it.

A pretty good swap i would say.

The Journal  Mon to Sat.,or The Northumberland Gazette weekly on Thurs.
Also The Chronicle, afternoons Mon to Sat.

The community of Ashington used to be served by a bi-weekly newspaper "The Ashington Post"

The community of Blyth used to be served by the bi-weekly "Blyth News"

These papers died.

Currently the weekly free paper " The NewsPostLeader" seves Ashington area etc.


It is on line @ www.newspostleader,co.uk  There is a sort of Family History facility.

Well, news post leader, is that still going? My Mum used to deliver that free paper when it was just called The Leader back in the late 70's. When she was pregnant with my youngest sister. My older sister and I used to help her deliver it all around the estates in Cowpen and Bebside. I used to do Bebside on my bicycle. Great in the summer but awful to have to do in the winter.

Amazing what memories this forum pops up from time to time!  Grin
