Boston Baptism
« on: Saturday 07 March 09 22:37 UTC (UK) »

good evening. living way down on the south coast, it is quite difficult to get up to Lincolnshire to do some research.
my 3 x gt grandfather Levein Lyons, was apparently born in Boston circa 1813.
Have managed to obtain a copy of his marriage certificate of 1851 which shows that his father was Moses Lyons. How traced an article in the Lincoln Rutland and Stamford Mercury naming his father in 1811.
This family were potentially Polish Jews - am really stuck on where to turn to find baptismal records, marriage records or even records of when the family arrived in the UK. It is possible the name started out as Lyon as that is the name used in the newspaper article.
any help, guidance on where to turn next would be most grateful

I don't know which sites to look on, but I would hunt in the jewish records.
Try in this site, and also Google. The jewish faith seem to have good record keeping.
