Ash Street, Stockton on Tees
« on: Sunday 08 March 09 11:27 GMT (UK) »

Does anyone have any idea where "Ash Street" was in Stockton on Tees. I have an Alan Godfrey Map of Stockton dated 1897, but cannot find it. I also have a 2001 street map and cannot locate it on there. In 1943 a member of my family was living there. Any help gratefully received.

keziah,
why not email the Stockton on Tees Library and ask them?
they'll maybe have a Local Studies Section.

It's possible that Ash Strret may be on one of the "godfrey" middlesbrough maps - possibly north middlesbrough - because it appears that ash street was in an area across the river from middlesbrough , but a fair way out of stockton.
going by the satelite image on google , it doesn't look as though it exists now , probably explains why it wasn't on the 2001 map.
