Hi all I appear to have come to a dead end. My gr gr grandad married Mary Jane Hall on the 8th October 1855 at St Martins in Birmingham. I have the marraige cert and know her father was Edward but that is where my trail ends. I think she was born about 1837 but all the marriage cert says is "full age" and i have no idea where the family come from. Any pointers would be appreciated. Regards Alan

This is the only William Rhodes in the Birm' area (albeit Aston) in 1861 - wife Jane (maybe she preferred it to Mary ? ), and oldest child born after 1855 ... William was a Glass Blower as was the lad seen with father Samuel in Dudley 1851 ....
1861 - RG9/2178; Folio: 129; Page: 27 - Aston, Duddeston Miles Square
William Rhodes 24 Head Glass Blower Dudley Jane Rhodes 25 Wife Birmingham George Rhodes 5 son Staffs, Durleston Clara Rhodes 1 dau Warks, Birm'
Edward Loynes 38 Uncle Chair Maker Birm' Thomas A Loynes 11 cousin do Arthur Loynes 8 do do

Thats them. Its Mary or Jane that is causing me problems as i can't find her prior to her marraige in 1855. The 1861 census puts her age as 25 so year of birth would be 1836, but i can't find her anywhere. It's soooooo frustrating.

Loynes was indeed her Uncle's name (1861 census) - I did look for him successfully in 1851, but the lass wasnt there.
Good result !

That certainly appears to be her, DoB is about right as is fathers name and the surname Loynes appears in the family. Don't know where you got it from but thanks so much for your help.
