Dumbarton Castle
« on: Sunday 08 March 09 18:00 UTC (UK) »

I have just got a copy of the 1781 OPR Marriage Proclamation from DUMBARTON for my wifes 4th x great grandparents....

He (JOHN SMITH) is recorded as a Sergeant in the Guards
She (ELIZABETH TAYLOR) is a local "lass"....

I assume John was based at DUMBARTON CASTLE - can anyone tell me where I would be able to find historic records of the soldiers based at the Castle to see if I can find more information on JOHN ...

Any help or direction would be appreciated...

Thanks
Bob
