Hi Suffolk Sue,
Many thanks for the information. It will be interesting to see just who the other William is connected to in the Family.
Thanks again Regards Annette.

I am interested in this family also. Can I ask how you came by Jane as the wife of Philip? The grave of Simon Mothersole d1806 in St Peter's Parish Church, Great Livermere lists his parents as Philip and Susan Mothersole. Given the date and its proximity to the graves of Philip (died 1871) and Elizabeth (died 1862) I think it's a very good chance Simon was Philip's brother. The 1841 census entry for the family of Philip and Elizabeth Mothersole (nee Borley) lists a Susan Mothersole aged 80 - this may be Philip's mother. I am descended from Alfred Mothersole, the son of Philip and Elizabeth who changed is name to Motherstone.

Hi Lancep,
Welcome to Rootschat
I am sure the posters on this query will be on later today. I just looked at the Census entry re Susan and it is also possible she could be Phillips grandmother by her age.
Cheers, Trish

I have contacted the Suffolk CRO which holds a transcription made in 1930 of the gravestones of St Peters Parish Church, Great Livermere. I think the staff might have made some errors when interpreting the abbreviations for wife and widow since they have the widow dead before the husband in some cases but here's what they sent in reply to my query:
"Thank you for your email dated 27th August 2009. We have a collection of Churchyard Inscriptions which were made in 1930 which are hand written and abbreviated and I have listed below those with a reference to either Phillip of Susan Mothersole
Phillip Mothersole 11th November 1871 age 74 Elizabeth widow of Phillip Mothersole 2nd June 1862 age 63 Henry John Mothersole son of William and Susan Mothersole 25th April 1886 age 65 Jane widow of Phillip Mothersole 30th June 1813 age 48 Phillip Mothersole 30th March 1825 age 63 Simon son of Phillip and Susan Mothersole 31st August 1806 age 35 William Mothersole 8th December 1876; Susan the widow of William Mothersole 7th January 1886 age 94 Phillip Mothersole 12th June 1815 age 80; Susan his widow (no day) March 1802 age 61 or 60 not clear"

Hello Lancep
Many MIs have been transcribed over the years by various groups, including the WI.
The Local History Recorder for Little and Great Livermere might be able to help further. Let me know and I will PM you his details.
