Hello Chirp,

The Berkshire Local History Association may be able to assist. www.blha.org.uk/activities/newqueries.php

Hi Chirp,

It struck me as soon as I woke this morning. Commercial Hotel and Commercial House
were a couple of the names that owners of hotels, hostelries or lodging houses, gave
to their premises if they intended to cater for commercial travellers. Commercial Hall
may have been an alternative if others in the town had used the former names already.

That's possible Christopher. I have also learned that someone who may be my ancestor's brother was also living there with his family. I have posted a message on the Berks FHS discussion board also so hopefully I may soon have my question answered. Thank you for your help.
