Hi,

I am doing a one name study of the Rossiter family and am looking for information please about the parents, grandparents and siblings of Solomon Rossiter born circa 1824 in Darlington.

As far as I am aware, he had emigrated to Salt Lake City,Utah before 1857.

Any information would be greatly appreciated please. TIA.

Did you know that you can search the Durham Bishops' Transcripst free on http://www.rootschat.com/links/05s9/  htey're not name-indexed but Darlington is there if you wish to search for Solomon's baptism

May I ask where you got the information that he was born Darlington as I can't immediately see him in 1841 census?

I did not know about the site which you have linked to.

I got the information about Solomon from the IGI:-

The problem I have is that I have two marriages:-

Solomon appears to have married the same woman on the same date in two different places so not only do I want to link him to his parents I want to resolve which of these two records is correct.

Ah, I see they are all member-submitted entries, not extracted from Parish records.

You will probably find the IGI search labs site very useful in your research, it's a pilot site and free to use.

The Darlington Register Office has an online search at http://www.darlington.gov.uk/Living/Register+Office/RegOfficeSearch.htm

No results there for the marriage - so possibly the Salt Lake marriage would be the right one.

The only early Solomon Rossiter I can see in census is in Frome, Somerset
