Hello and thanks once again Mike!
The Thrussington record looks a strong possiblilty - an opens up a new name with GRUNDY.
I think that George's parents were Luke and Catherine WALKER not William and Ann - although William is a strong family name in this line so he could well be some connection.
Thank you thank you for your input - always good to hear from you

Thank you Mike - hadn't got that info - although I had an idea that Catherine was NEEP from the igi.
Don't suppose I could ask you to look for either of their baptisms, could I
Thank you

Oh, if only George had followed in his parents footsteps - then it would be iced buns for everyone!!
Wonder where it all went - I reckon George wasn't the eldest son - and does this tie in with the William Walker from Dalby that you found, Diddy?! hmmmmm
Or maybe the money was from the NEEP side and I really know nothing about that!
Thank you both again

Hi folks
I'm new to all of this Rootsweb chat malarkey.
Anyway, I to am descended from the William Walker baptised in 1833. He's my 3x great grandfather, and I'm descended from his 4th daughter (5th child) Sarah. All of this stuff is very interesting, and I'm having great fun adding bits to my family tree.

It is, Treegirl. Samuel Hill was born in Kirkby Mallory in 1860, and died in 1944.

Their eldest daughter, Annie Elizabeth Gertrude is my great grandmother.
My grandmother (her daughter) told me that they came from a big family.
Many years ago, she told me loads of information about the Hills. For example, your great grandfather Thomas Hill had sons called Dennis and Eric. Is that right?

This is all getting rather interesting. This must beam we're of the same generation. I currently live in Nottingham btw.
Anyway, Samuel Hill and Sarah Walker had 8 children (in no particular order):
Annie E G Hill (1/4/1885 - 30/8/1939) - married Frederick Harry Searle. Had 4 sons and 1 daughter. Thomas Hill - Had 2 sons. Ethel Hill (d 3/8/1965) - married Joseph William Hughes Samuel Hill - married Kate Thomas, then Faith. Had 1 daughter. Kate Hill - married Albert Hughes. Had 1 son and 1 daughter. Roland Hill - married thrice (once to Gladys). Had 1 son and 1 daughter. Nellie Hill - married Richard Papworth. Had 5 sons and 2 daughters. Jack Hill - married Nellie Dormer. Had 1 daughter.
I have some of the names of some of the sons and daughters described above.
First, this doesn't quite correlate with the Census returns I've seen, So there may have been name changes somewhere along the line.
One thing, however, she insisted on, was that Sarah Walker-Hill's real surname was Eyles. Now I couldn't find an Eyles anywhere, until I got Annie E G Hill's birth certificate. Oddly enough, the informant was an Annie Eyles, aunt of Annie Hill, and present at the birth. Could this Annie Eyles have perhaps been Sarah Walker's eldest sister?
