CASTLE Family - Great Gaddeston
« on: Wednesday 22 July 09 20:11 UTC (UK) »

I am trying to determine if the Jane Castle christened April 29th, 1787, daughter of James Castle and Sarah Whiting, is the same woman who married William Morley at St. Mary, Luton, in Bedfordshire, on May 27, 1806. The locations seem close enough, and the dates correspond well. Was the name common in the area, or distinctive enough to make the match likely?

Shouldn't this be on HerTfordshire rather than HerEfordshire?

Have you looked at the parish register entry for the marriage to see if parishes of residence other than Luton are given? The witnesses may also provide a clue

Oops! You are absolutely right.  I clicked too fast on the county and now feel like a fool. I'll re-post in Hertfordshire - and head for the Family History Center to get the original film.
