germany ancestries
« on: Tuesday 10 March 09 04:57 UTC (UK) »

My great great  grandfather Gottleib Fredrich KILUMPP ,his wife Frietericke HEIMERDINGER and family from Stuttgart, Wuttemberg, Germany immigrant to Sydney on the ship "Peru" on the 17th January 1855. They arrived in Sydney 23rd May 1855 and then they subseqently arrived in Moreton Bay (Queensland) on 14th June, 1855. Gottleib was born 23/10/1812, died 10/4/1889 and Frietericke was born c1817, died 16/8/1857 Queensland Australia.

Gottleib's father was  Gottleib Wilhelm KLUMPP (1788-1853) and his mother's Johanna Rosina Christiana KLEINMANN(3/6/1792 to 28/3/1843) both were born and died in Stuttgart, Germany.

His mother's father was Fredrich HEIMERDINGER and his mother was Catherine BENDER.

I am trying to trace the family before 1855 back in Germany, could someone please help me? Could someone confirm the information that I have given. Thank You

Hello O1952  Smiley
Welcome to Rootschat!

I can't help with your German ancestry, but wondered whether you have read the various newspaper articles regarding your Klumpps in Queensland, which are available through the National Library of Australia website?  For example there is one from 1857 concerning the death of Frietericke.

If you would like more details of where to look, just ask  Smiley

Cheers

Here you go:
http://ndpbeta.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/home

This should bring up the main page with a search box.  I just typed in "Klumpp" and a number of hits were returned.  Click on the title of each one to view an image of the article.  There are a couple regarding the murders and subsequent trial of the policemen who captured, but then lost, the man accused of the crimes.  There's also a few about Gottlieb later on, selling up his cattle and then an ad announcing probate for his will.

Smiley Hi Prue M

Thanks for the web address. It will be interesting to read the court case. I didn't know about Gottlieb selling up his cattle and the probate of his will. He later got remarried and the family moved and were pioneer in establishing the suburb of Mt Gravatt in Brisbane ,Queensland, Australia where a street is named after them ( Klumpp Road).

Hi 1952
I also am descended from Gottlieb.  I have quite a lot of information about him.  Have a family history website about the Klumpps if you are interested.

Hi Jilly

Thanks you for the website address, I will look it up.

I am meeting Robert tomorrow at my friends place so that we can compare what information we have and I will say hello to him for you.

Henry William Klumpp was my Great Grandfather and his daughter Martha Julia  married John Trim. They were my Grandparents. Their youngest son Colin Charles married Edith Emily Kettle, my parents. I am Olwyn, their youngest daughter.

I will see if I have any information that you don't after looking at the website and arrange to send it.

Speak to you tomorrow.
Olwyn
