Cemeteries in Polbrock/Stabannon area
« on: Wednesday 11 March 09 20:27 UTC (UK) »

Does anyone know of the cemeteries in the Polbrock/Stabannon area that RC were buried?  I've checked the ones online, but there must be others? Especially for people who died before 1920?

If it is Stabannon / stabannan, Co Louth, Kilsaran Grave yard is close by as is Dromin.  Have family from Stabannan who are spread between those 3.

Sorry it took so long to reply.  I thank you for the three names of the gravesyards.  I'll try and check them out, or see if someone could check them out for me.

Thanks again,
Cathy

Just announced at mass yesterday that there is a book coming out soon on the Grave yard inscriptions in Dromin in the next few months.  Being wrote by Fr Michael Murtagh.  What family names are you after.  If I am at any one in the next week or so I will take a look, also heading to a small grave yard in Richardstown soon which is also in the area

That would be most kind.  I am looking for Thomas Dunne b:(abt) 1828 d: (abt)1870.  Son of Patrick Dunne, wife's name Margaret Dunne (nee Grimes) of Pollbrock.  I sure hope you find something, I have been looking for him for 5 yrs now without any luck at all.  Hard for me to search the graveyards being thousands of miles away.  Thank you again, I truly appeciate it.

Hi there Went to Dromiskin, Co. Louth and Stabanna Grave yards yesterday.  No Dunnes.  Also none in Richardstown that I could see - alot of stones there unreadable and buried.  Can't find "Polbrock". but will keep looking.  sorry.

Thank you so much for checking.  I don't know where my people went!  After finding them in the latest 1901 Ireland census, they just seem to have disappeared!
Thanks again for all your help.

Will still keep a look out.  Good luck.
I'm looking for Carrolls in Stabannan and surrounding areas.  Everyone heard of Polbrock - but cant just place it.  Its an Irish name anyway.

Pollbrock (Polbrock) is 1-2 kilometers north of Stabannon and about 1 kilometer west of the M1.  It's rather a rural area.  Not to far from Castle Bellingham, and very close to Stabannon.

I've heard of the Carroll family, as a matter of fact they were suppose to have been close friends and somehow related to the Dunne's.  I'm pretty sure you will find them in the Stabannon area.  Best of Luck and keep in touch.

Thanks
