Hi, can anyone help with a photo of this please . I think it was in the main Street. Wigtown Free press 1924 has a business notice saying it had been taken over by Thomas Mc Kellar. The Murrays are relatives and had been blacksmiths for several generations. I have census info but not been able to pinpoint the actual building in New Luce yet.
thanks, Harriet

I can't tell you if the Blacksmith Shop is visible, but there are pictures of Main Street here http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=5619606
The Smithy is shown on an old map, choose sheet 3, Stranraer, then zoom in on New Luce http://www.nls.uk/maps/os/oneinch_2nd_list.html
There is in fact a Smith Lane in New Luce, but not in quite the same place as shown on the map, so maybe there was more than one in the past, or it moved?
