when copying videos to your pc, it creates large video files and uses lots of memory. Many older pcs are not able to cope with this... when you go to see your local pc man, ask if your pc will be able to cope processing video files before they install the dvd writer.
If you know the specifications of your pc, you might want to check them against the  specs requirement in the software guide link I gave earlier.
