Hi Folks,

Thankyou for all of your efforts.

Clement Long died in Lowestoft 1947.   He was living in Oxfordsdhire during the 1930`s and early 1940`s without Elizabeth.   Clement and Elizabeth apparently had two
children both died  This coincides with deaths  found on FBMD but I haven`t
verified this with certificates.  They went on to" ?Adopt "my Grandmother who was born
in 1902, so I was certainly expecting to find them  all on the 1911 Census.

Hi again,

I believe that Clement Long born 1891 Sept qtr  Wisbech
and died Dec qtr Wisbech aged 0 may be their first child.
He seemed the most obvious but then I may be wrong.

I`m not sure about the second, most of my information about
their children has been anecdotal.

Grandmother Violet Simmons was born March 1902 Edmonton.(Workhouse)
I don`t know where or when Clement  and Elizabeth long ?adopted her.

Violet didn`t live in Norfolk as far as I am aware.

Oldham's 1950 book on Wisbech Inns & Taverns is not terribly helpful.  It says of the Hope "This is another inn by the Canal, situated on the opposite side of the road to 'The Case is Altered' on the south end of the Horsefair.  From 1873 onwards it has been under the tenancy of Bouch, Hellis, Barnes, Hotson, Randall, Bartram and Firth".

If the landlords are quoted in date order it implies that Bouch family were there by 1873.  The pub had closed by 1979.

Thankyou for the  interesting information  Robert.

I had been led to believe that Clement and Elizabeth had run
The Red House Pub and Bakery in Highclere , Berkshire but after investigation,
it would appear not .

It seems that anecdotal information has had a truth to it albeit exaggerated.

Yes I have a Flora Pollyn in my tree, sister to John Robert, Arthur, and Emily Victoria Pollyn, daughter of Robert Remington and Sarah Elizabeth (Desborough) Pollyn. She married Sydney Bouch ( 2 children, Syd and Violet) and remarried to Arthur Taylor.

Hi,

Are you sure Flora married a Sydney Bouch?  I have her married to
John Thomas Bouch with two children Violet Elizabeth and Sidney Alfred.
There may be another child Albert born 1912.

That information I got from my mother (Phyllis, daughter of Arthur Pollyn) but her memory was getting a bit suspect at the time! We were getting a bit confused with the Syd and Florries! (Flora's son, Syd married Florrie......). Maybe I need to do some checking! I have a photo of Flora, with Sarah Pollyn and Syd and Violet.

Hi,

I have sent you a personal message forgot to put a subject heading so hope that
you read it.  Unfortunately, I haven`t any photographs of the Pollyn or Bouch
side of the family but do have one of Clement LONG who was married to
John Thomas BOUCH`s sister Elizabeth.
