COMPLETED 1881 census help
« on: Friday 17 July 09 04:48 UTC (UK) »

I have been searching for months for a lost relative and think I now may have found her.

I am hoping for a census transcript from 1881 of:
Robert Bird (1831) and
Agnes Bird (1840) his wife (I cannot find any children born to them)
living in Dumbartonshire.

Hoping someone can help.

Chris.

Hi Chris

1881: 79 Alexander Street, Alexandria - Bonhill, Dumbartonshire
Parish: 493, ED 7, page 10
Head: Robert BIRD 50, Cabinet Maker, b British Subject, West Indies, St. Vincent
Wife: Agnes BIRD 41, b Edinburgh,

ANy idea when they married - possibly Robert is in Edinburgh in 1871 Census but no sign of a wife with him?

Cheers

They married in 1857. Agnes would only have been 17.
Have asked on 'Midlothian' forum for 1861 transcript.
Maybe they went back to West Indies for a while and were there at the time of the 1871 census. Not sure how to prove that.

Hi Ambly  Smiley

With your info re 1881, this looks like them in 1861:

Robert S Bird 30, cabinet maker, b. St Vincent, West Indies
Agnes Bird 20, b. Edinburgh

Address: 2 Salisbury Sq, Edinburgh St Cuthberts
