is there a name you are looking for on memorial? I can check it out tomorrow for you, memorial is in old dalnottar cemetery which is about a mile from me.

Thanks for the offer but I don't have the name handy at present and I'm not even sure if the woman was married or not when she died (it would be her maiden name that I have) so I thought if there was a list online I could look through the list for clues (I think her Christian name was fairly uncommon but have to find the file with the note in it to be sure).

Hi everyone,
I've just discovered three relatives who were killed on the night of the Clydebank blitz. They were in Earl Street, Scotstoun. Would they be listed on the new plaque at Clydebank, or do I have to search elsewhere.

My great uncle Henry Kane is not in the list either!

I haven't managed to find an online link to a full list of names.
If you listen to the STV link, a gentleman, talking about his wee brother that died, mentions where one could find names prior to now.
Yes, it would be great to have lists of names.
My point though, in posting the link, was just to bring the memorial to people's attention.
Isn't it nice to have such a memorial after so many years!

Don't know what information you have on your Henry Kane but will this help?
Henry Kane, aged 47 of 54 Waverley Streey, husband of Lena Kane.
Died March 13th, 1941 at Morrison Street.
This is an entry from the WW11 casualty listof 'Blitz' victims for the Glasgow area.
Hope it helps.

I grew up adjacent to the "Tanks" at Dalnottar & both my parents lived through the Blitz as children.I have heard many tales of those nights.
My Mum's family were evacuated as their home was bombed but luckily they did return to the same one after the War & I was born there several years later.
My Granny lived in Burns St at the time & told me many tales of what happened.
My Mother's eldest brother was 14 at the time & would on occasions help his Father with his APW with his duties including removing an incendiary device which had landed on a neighbour's bed.
My Grandfather had went out to view the destruction with strict orders that everybody was to remain in the shelter until his return.
Uncle Tommy being a boy took no heed & headed to have a look.
He returned shortly after looking pale & sick.It was many months before he told my Mother of the horrible sights he had seen-bodies laid out on the street,body parts etc.
Yet my Mother says her parents made them feel so secure that she was never afraid & that her Father managed to guide them through Dalmuir to the evacuation point without seeing anything too traumatic apart from the bombed buildings.
I am going to take a wee trip up to Scotland later this month & as Dalnottar is a hop & a skip from Mum's I will be happy to take photos of the Memorial if anybody wants.
