LDS Pilot site

 For some reason I am unable to access the pilot search on the LDS site, Sad when I try to load flash player all I get is a download error ! any ideas  Smiley

If you are using Internet Explorer then you may have to download the flash player removal tool first and remove flash player completely before downloading and installing the latest version.

1) Download and install FP removal tool from Adobe website.
2) Shutdown and reboot your computer (advisable).
3) Download and install the latest version of Flash Palyer from Adobe website.

Hello,

The problem I had with many web sites hanging on random ad servers seems to have mainly gone away. That may partly be due to the addition of AdBlockPlus in Firefox.

I'm still having problems with some sites however. One being the Pilot FamilySearch site which just gives me a blank screen with the progress bar sitting on 80%. The site gives no indication it is hanging on an ad server. There is no ad server host name in the status bar.

I tried the Flash work-around and that did not solve the problem. The site does not load in IE6 or IE7 or now IE8 or the previous or the most recent version of Firefox. I uninstalled not just Flash but IE7 and tried IE6 and when that didn't work I installed IE8 and that does not work either.

The only cause I can think of is that my IP is being blocked, but at which end   Huh

What we can say for certain is this has nothing to do with adverts because the LDS do not have adverts on their site.

I've just entered the Record Search pilot site using IE8 and it counted upto 100% without any problem.

Loading RecordSearch.swf 0-100%

I notice enable hard acceleration was ticked when I examined the Flash Player settings when I right clicked the page.

I also tried it using Firefox 3.0.6 and it worked with that as well.

It seems to be something peculiar to your computer.

Try disabling all protection (one piece of software at a time) and then try accessing the site and see what happens.  I don't think your browser is the problem.

Hello downside,

I am in SE Asia and I am not willing to disable protection. My software firewall gets too many hits from Taiwan, Korea and China. It's just too risky. The Pilot site did work the first week after it was put up. I sent several emails to them suggesting ways it could and should be improved, so something has happened since. It has been added to the trusted zone.
