I'm seeking information about Hugh MORWICK born about 1823 Orkney - parents Hugh & Elizabeth SCARTHE
This is a copy of a marriage entry:
Morwick Hugh 1823 OKI,SCT Hugh Morwick/Elizabeth Scarthe Elizabeth Beck NSW AUS 9 Dec 1854 712
Beck Elizabeth 1 May 1816 London,MDX Robert Beck/Elizabeth Davies Hugh Morwick NSW AUS 9 Dec 1854 712
No marriage registration can be found in Australia so far even though it seems to indicate NSW.
MORWICK Hugh Age: 30 Vessel: Caspar Status: C [crew] Date of arrival: 27/11/1854 Port of departure: Valparaiso Remarks: 1st Mate, Scotland
H MORWICK from Moreton Bay (Qld) arriving in NSW 3/9/1855 aboard the same vessel. Status code is M ['Master'].
Ship "Beautiful Star" 1867 Apr 24 Master's Certificate No. 88 issued to Hugh MORWICK; examined by Trinity House, Deptford on Strond (3)
WOONONA of Sydney, HUGH MORWICK, Master, Burthen 404 Tons from the Port of WARNAMBOOL to SYDNEY, New South Wales, 22nd Feb. 1876
Every reference I find for Hugh as a ship's Master has MORWICK but that is not to say his parents may not have been MARWICK as that is more common in Orkney.
The marriage says is was in NSW but I can't find the registration of the marriage anywhere in Australia and I can't find the birth of two children either.
These are the children I have found so far:
Robert H b. ? d. 1862 NSW
#1048/1862 MORWICK ROBERT H HUGH ELIZABETH SYDNEY
James b. ? d. 1903 NSW
#157/1903 MORWICK JAMES HUGH ELIZABETH SYDNEY
Clara E b. 1860 NSW d. 1860 NSW
#1892/1860 MORWICK CLARA E HUGH ELIZABETH SYDNEY #1584/1860 MORWICK CLARA E HUGH ELIZABETH SYDNEY
(Source: NSW BDM On-line)
I can't find a registration for the birth of Robert or James in Australia.
Any help with any of the gaps would be apppreciated.

Hello - the IGI has an 'extracted entry for
HUGH MARWICK Marriage: 20 MAR 1821 Evie And Rendall, Orkney, Scotland to Elizabeth Scarth.
A copy of the Old Parish Record with the entry can be downloaded from www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. (commonly shortened to SP) Min spend £6, buys 30 units. 1 unit allows to view search results. 5 units allows for a download of the needed entry assuming a 1st time hit. Good luck.
2 children born to this couple appear on SP:
No Date Surname Forename Parent Names/Frame No. Sex Parish City/County GROS Data 1 02/01/1822 MARWICK HUGH HUGH MARWICK/ELIZABETH SCARTH FR237 M Evie and Rendall /ORKNEY 016/ 0020 0085 2 20/09/1828 MARWICK JAMES HUGH MARWICK/ELIZABETH SCARTH FR237 M Evie and Rendall /ORKNEY 016/ 0020 0085

It would appear that Elizabeth Scarth wife of Hugh Marwick died in 1881 at the age of 86. Her death entry will be available from SP for £1.20.
1881 MARWICK ELIZABETH SCARTH F 86 FIRTH AND STENNESS /ORKNEY 017/00 0013
Her death entry will give both parents names and mother maiden name and fathers occupation - which will take you back to the 1700's
First census in Scotland is 1841. The 1841 one can be found for free at www.freecen.org .uk. If census followed through you might be able to find Hugh seniors death window - hopefully after 1855 when countrywide registration began. If found after 1855 - both parents names and mothers maiden name will be on it - if the informant knew.
Really busy at work today. So won't be here again today or tomorrow. Good luck. Regards, Steve .

Hello Steve,
Thank you very much. Oh, I was right about MARWICK after all. However I didn't expect it to be SCARTH hence I didn't find the marriage on SP. I'm down to 3 credits and may have to wait until I get a reply from Bristol Register Office re several marriages and baptisms that they might be able to find before I decide what to purchase next.

Hello Monica,
Thank you. Yes that confirms the 1881 death for Elizabeth.
Now I'm working on the Australian part of the tree.
