Robertson family search

Hi. I'm totally new to this so I really apologise if I've posted this in the wrong place but I'm trying to find some information about my father, James Robertson.
All I know is that he was born in Dunfermline, Fife somewhere between 1920 - 1930. He was apparantly married before he married my mother in 1972.
I'd just like to know so that I would be able to trace my scottish ancestry.
I've tried other sites but keep hitting brick walls so any help you may be able to give will be very much appreiciated.

legolass, welcome to RC. the info you are seeking will be available on SP:

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

there are 4 james robertsons come up in the search. you will need credits to do searches on this site (bought online).
It may be better to send for your fathers marriage cert to your mum if possible  - this will give you his age / birth place to start.

please  be careful what info you put on here though as the dates you are searching are relatively recent and may affect living people.

Thank you for the info. I'll look in to that.
Not interested in finding living relatives but only interested in old family history, since it seems the Robertson's have quite an interesting past, so if I can find his details then I'll be able to find grandparents, great grand parents etc and start working back.
