Agnes McAulay/Macaulay
« on: Monday 16 March 09 21:22 UTC (UK) »

Agnes born in Campbelltown approx. 1818, married to James McCready/McReady.  1891 Census she is in Neilston, she is also blind.  She had a daughter Agnes McCready who was born around 1846 and married a James McKenna/Mckinnon in 1869.

Does anyone know what happened to the McAulay's?

Hi Sharlit

Do you have Agnes's death certificate which would be expected to record her parent's names?
Do you know when and where she and James married?

Cheers  Grin

Thanks for the reply, actually,  I did just find a death certificate yesterday.

Agnes died in 1896, she was 72,  in Neilston, Peter Macaulay father, Margaret McEachern mother, son Daniel McCready was present..

I guess that gives me a little more to go on, but any other info would be great...

Thanks

Thank you so much...The name variations of Macaulay really throw you off...

2 things - possible birth for Peter Macaulay - 1775 in row, Dunbarton to alexander Macaulay and Jean Gay.

Also 1841 census shows a Margaret Macaulay b. 1786 (widow) living with 3 children:

Archy - 1811
Ewan - 1821
and an Angus (but is female) - 1821 also.- could be a typo?

have to bear in mind they round up and down on 1841 census.

They are living in Inverness.

do you know when Agnes was married?

Wow, this is great...Thanks.

Agnes was born approx.1820, she married James McCready/McReady...they had several children, one of the daughters Agnes McCready married James McKenna/Mckinnon, they also had several children one of which was John McCready Mckinnon who was my gr grandfather who came to Canada in  1911.  The McKinnon's lived in Barrhead.

Up until now I was unable to find anything on the McAulays.
