Hi, My maternal grandmother was called Zilpha Cooper, born in 1900, her father was William Rhodes Cooper, born about 1872, her mother was Sarah Jane Cooper, born around 1876. They had another daughter Alice Cooper born about 1899. I'm trying to find the parents of William and the Sarah's maiden name (in the hope to find out who her parents were). They lived in Kippax, West Yorkshire.
Zilpha was married to Wilfred Battye ( grandfather), they married around 1919, they had four children, William, Harold, Edith Mary, and Ada (my mother). Wilfreds father was Frank Battye (i think maybe the e is ommitted) His mother was Ada Battye, they had another son, Harold. They lived in Mirfield 1n the 1901 census with a Mary Bottom, age 49, Albert Bottom aged 11, John W Bottom aged 16 and Florance Bottom aged 19. Ada could be Mary's daughter. I'd like to find who Ada's father was, and who Frank's parents were. Any help would be much appreciated.

Well, the BOTTOMs did have a daughter named Ada so it could be ..............

You will need to get the marriage certificate for Frank BATTY to Ada to confirm. Also the birth certificate for one of Frank Ada's children would give Ada's maiden name.

I can't seem to find anything on Frank, he's there in the 1901 census, but i can't find anything before or after. Can anyone help please?

I'm afraid I can't see any Frank/Francis BATT.... in or born Yorkshire that would fit yours age, birthplace or occupation wise. Perhaps his marriage would provide further details on his father etc. if you can get it.

Information on Frank is strange, other family members have tried to find him, and drawn a blank, we know he was Ada'a wife and Zilpha's mother, i'm sctatching my head here.
