On censuses 1881,1891 & 1901 Alice POVEY nee PARKES gives her birthplace as Northfield Worcester, Northfield Warwickshire & Northfield Staffordshire in about 1849. It this one of those places which changed Counties?
In 1871 she was Alice JONES - her first marriage was to a William JONES in 1869
Can anyone find her in 1851 or 1861?

Can't see a possible birth registration for her though - except for an Alice PALMER - Kings Norton June 1848 - perhaps that's her?

You're welcome - pity they didn't stay born the same year and in the same place back then 
But, I suppose, it's much the same as someone born Smethwick nowadays saying they are from Birmingham

Hi Pat, this could be Alice. 1851 Census Piece 2034 201 11 Spies Lane The Hill Halesowen. Today this place is on the boarder of Halesowen/Quinton/Blackheath. I am pretty sure it came under Northfield.

This is where some local knowledge is so helpful. I had seen that entry but without checking thought that Halesowen was in another district.
Is that the same Alice PARKES who gives "The Hill" as place of birth on earlier censuses?
I'm right out of my depth in the Birmingham district!

Hi Pat and Mum, The Hill is now Mucklows Hill. There are a lot of Parkes in Halesowen. A Harry Parkes had a Stationers Shop in Hagley Street, which was in the family up until 1965. Best Wishes Linell.
