William and Jeanette Miller C 1820
« on: Wednesday 22 July 09 23:09 UTC (UK) »

Hi

I am looking for William and Jeanette Miller in Canada.
William Miller C 1820 don't know where he was born.
Jeanette Lacouto Miller Nee Brent C 1820 born France
Son- George John Miller C 1845 born France.
They are meant to have moved to Quebec from France and then George jumped ship in Australia around 1872.
I know this isn't much to go on but any help would be appreciated.

Cheers Sue

Hi Sue,

Do you mean the family moved to Canada about 1872 & George jumped ship at Australia?
Do you happen to know any siblings names?

Cordially,
Lisa

Hi Lisa

Sorry don't know any siblings
William is meant to have a shipping business in France. All i know is some time between George's birth and him arriving in Australia that the family moved to Canada.Sorry i can't give you any more, all of this is hearsay in the family.

Hi Sue,

I haven't found a William & Jeanette that fits yours on the census.
I did find a death for a William Miller esq., ?. P. Deputy Shipping Master, age 66 in 1881, at the Port of Quebec. No next of kin listed. Present were P. or R. Morgan, John Shaw(?), E. T or F. D or S. Chambers.
I don't know if this helps or confuses.

Cordially,
Lisa

Hi Lisa

That does sound promising.Would his death cert have anymore information on it than what you have given me?
Have just been given an alternative way of spelling Jeanette's surname it is La Couteur her first name could have been chanaged to "Jessie" or "Shonutta" the Gaelic form.
Thanks so much for your time in looking.
