Convey - Moate. Westmeath
« on: Thursday 19 March 09 23:47 GMT (UK) »

Researching my husband's 3rd great-grandmother Rose Convey who was born 19 Dec 1841 in Moate. To Edward Convey and Bridget Callaghan. I would like to find documentation of the birth date as I have it passed to me from another family researcher. According to her migration record her father Edward was a farmer.  I have no further details and thus would be interested in dates and places for Edward and Bridget if they can be found.

Kind regards,

Hello Mariahswind,I see on the IFHF(Irish family history foundation)site  they charge 5 euro to view ,but they have a Rose Convey born 1841 father Edward  listed under the parish of Tubber & Rosemount, which is only about 3 miles from Moate (bingo I think!) also listed is -- with father's name Edward Convey is Michael born 1844 & James born 1847 + also married in the year of 1841 is a Edward Convey & Bridget Callaghan, you can also view these at a LDS center don't forget to order the micro film records for the Parish of Tubber & Rosemount (Tubber the spelling is sometimes Tober) Now I looked at G/V as you said Edward was a farmer the only Edward Conveys I see near this area is at Horseleap which would be about 5/6 miles out side of Moate  but again not that far from the parish of Tubber,I will have another look around & if I find any more info I'll get back to you ,Good luck Nipy

oh much thanks! Great work! I have a mounting list of films I need to get via FHLC. I've never utilized it before but I see it will help me heaps!.... It will be better than paying 5 euros!

Kind regards,

Hi again, thinking about Edward been a farmer & Griffiths Valuation as we know there were a couple of Edward Convey listed for Horseleap which is also known by it's old name Ardnurcher, I've looked on the maps & I see that the parish of Ardnurcher runs around & boarders back up with the parish of  Kilcumreagh which is where Tubber Church is. I really think that Edward list in G/V is also your Edward in the Tubber records & that he was renting two sites of land at the time because have you notice that one off the areas of land that is been rented is bog land which Edward would have been cutting turf of this land for his householed use & farming & living on the other site.More thoughs for you to play with ,regards Nipy

I had a feeling that two entries for Edward were one and the same and most likely my Edward. I noticed that he was renting both pieces from the same lady. Thanks for your additional thoughts.

kind regards
