Hi Matt,
I will keep keen eyes out too, while I am looking for my Mary Ann's husband John (Ellington) Smith, who was probably born Ely, abt 1840. They named one of their NSW Aust born sons Thomas Hartley SMITH. Cheers ggd of Mary Ann !

Hi Redroger,
I dont have any known connection to anyone in Bottisham/Lode, but I do have Hartley, which seems to have spelling variations including Hatley and Hartly here in NSW Australia on some of the records that refer to my forebears in late 19thC NSW. My direct line is stuck at a brickwall in Ely, Cams, with a John SMITH, born ca 1840 at Ely. His middle name does not arise on documentation until he was in his 40's, and twas Ellington. My reason for posting on this thread is simply that I recognised Reaybo M from other threads and the chatroom. Cheers Redroger, Happy Easter. GGD of Mary Ann. (Reaybo and I both have great grandmothers whose first names were Mary Ann).

Hi Redroger Yes, there are some interesting relationships in my forebears tree and as far as I know twas no more and no less than other families trees, but twas definitely taboo subject. Of course genie searches can be made more difficult cause of fibs (mostly inadvertent) that appear on bdm records from those times. Cheers MA

Hello again all,
After a few months of research on the Hatley's and the Munns, I have managed to find out a few more pieces of information. There are still a few gaps however and I was wondering if you have time could you please look for the following in the Fordham PR's.
Jane Hatley burial between 1861-71, she was an elderly woman of about 82-86. She is on the 1861 census in Carter Street, Fordham as a midwife!!!
Her husband Edward was dead before 1841 and he may also be buried in Fordham. He was still alive in 1819 though, which gives a 20 yer period...dont wory about this one too much if it takes up too much time!
Thankyou for reading, and thankyou again for the information you have all given me...it has been a very progressive few months thanks to you and it is appreciated I promise!!!
Regards, Matt

Try: 1. http://www.cfhs.org.uk/Search.html for the burial of Edward. There are two in Fordham 1801-37. You don't give likely ages so I can't tell which might be yours
2. www.freebmd.org.uk for the death of Jane. There's one in 1862 in Downham registration district which includes Fordham

Thankyou David, would you believe both Edward's are mine. The burial in 1831 is the one I was after, and the one in 1833 was a son. I have also found some more family burials from the link you gave me, so thankyou It has also helped me add a few rellies to the tree this afternoon!
Cheers again,
Matt
