HI:
Can anyone help find what happened to my Grt Uncle,Aunt,children, from 'two' marriages; I do have some info my grt,uncle died before "1902" as my grt aunt died 12Mar/1902 at 18 Windmill St,Saltcoats;
Grt.Uncle William Thomson(b)20Aug/1842.Barony,Glas.married '1868' and wife died '1875' leaving '3' children;'John (b)1870,Govan,Lanark. 'Margaret'(b) 1872,Old Kilpatrick,Dunb; 'Annie'(b) 1874,Old Kilpatrick;
William Thomson (mar) Ann Graham Cochrane,(widow)16Jun/1876 Clydebank,Old Kilpatrick; 'Ann Cochrane' had '4' children;--- 'John Lennox Cochrane'(b)Apr/1856,Old Monkland/Lanark 'Elizabeth Cochrane' (b) Mar/1858 "" 'William Kidd Cochrane' (b) Mar/1860 "" 'Jane Cochrane' (b) July/1862 ""
The "Thomson/Cochrane" family lived in Old/Kilp.parish where 'William' worked at 'Clydebank-Shipyards' as 'Iron-Fitter' they are on the '1881' Census there,,, sometime after that they moved back to live in 'Saltcoats' where 'Wm & Ann' both died,she is on the '1901 Census' as a 'widow'
I am seeking info on any of these children, the 'Thomson' ones were younger and may have stayed and married in 'Saltcoats'; Only one of the 'Cochrane' kids I have is on '1871'Census,'Perth City' Perthshire, a lodger at a 'Milling--House' age 14yrs;occ;Millworker;
I should add 'Ann Cochrane Thomson' (b) 1831 Stevenson/Ardrossan m/s 'Graham' daughter of 'William & Elizabeth,m/s Brown,Graham' she was first married to "John Millar" 9Feb/1849,Stevenson,Ayr; Next marriage to "Hugh Cochrane" 11Dec/1852,Dalry,Ayr; also 'Reg' in Stevenson,31Dec/1852; Hugh & Ann lived 'Old Monkland,Lanark' where Hugh later died,,year unknown;

Young Annie did not live long unfortunately. She died 2nd March 1875 aged 2 months. She died of bronchitis, and her death was registered by William.

HI HUME;
Very much appreciate your effort in getting me the info on my "Thomson's,, this has cleared up a great mystery,, there was some family rumor that 'baby Annie' had died after her 'Mother' but I had no real confirmation,and after "Wm & Ann" & Kids' moved to 'Saltcoats' I just ran out of clues,,,,
People moved around so much in those days,'pick up thy bed &walk' eh, they did not have to get the 'moving-company',,,
Forgot to put in the name of the 'Cochrane' kid I found in 'Perth/Cty' was "John Lennox Cochrane'(b) 25Apr,1856.Old/Monk and he was a "Millworker" in Perth, he was only 14-15yrs old, it was on 1871 Census; Ann & Kids' were in the 'Workhouse' Old/Monkland, it must have been just after "Hugh" died and they were poor,,, she didn't marry "Wm TH" till 1876,,,, quite the history,,,,
I have some old pictures of my 'Granfather" taken in 'Ayrshire' some where with a bunch of his relatives and I have no idea who any of them are,, it was mid 1930's,
Appreciate all your help,Hume,,,,thx Kind regards; Janey;

HI Q98;
Thank you very much for your reply,,, it's a good possible he is mine, though the age is out a good few years,, my 'Wm.Kidd Cochrane'(b) 1860,Lanark.would have been '15-16'yrs old when his mother married my 'Grt.Uncle,Wm.Thomson'1876, I guess the' family-kids' were known as 'Thomson's' back in 'Saltcoats',,,,
I wonder if you can point me in the direction of this 'newspaper' where I can check death notice for 'parents,spouse,address,etc,etc.' much appreciated,,,
Kind regards; Janey;

HI Q98;
Thank you for your reply,, I immediately went to this 'site' and "Logged-In" can see I am set up on the 'mem/list/Ayrsh/Roots' after I registered all my 'info' ,,,,, there is some kind of problem as I cannot no way get into seeing the "Death/Notice" in the "Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald",,,,,, After I 'log-in' a message comes up I am using the wrong name/passwd I realised after this 'site' has not been updated for some time,, and I was not sent a 'confirmation' on my registeration,,,!!!!
Are you in touch with the 'Mods' of this 'Ayrshire/Roots',,?
It's not all that urgent I see this notice I was just hoping for a family member/name/address. These "Saltcoats/Thomson's" were my 'Grand- father's cousins and I have pictures of him with them taken in 'mid/1930's but I have no idea who is who,, maybe I should ask for help finding any "Thomson's " in 'Saltcoats' today,,,,
Appreciate your help very much,,,,
Kind regards;
Janey;

Hi again Janey
Try registering again using a different pseunodym or whatever and password. Then try loggin in using those. One thing you need to know about the "Ardrossan & Saltcoats" Herald database; the date shown is the EDITION date of the newspaper in which the notice appeared. It is NOT the date of the Birth, Death, Marriage, etc. As the "Herald" was, and still is, published WEEKLY, you can safely assume the "event" occured around that time ("In Memoriam" being the exception). If nothing else, it narrows down your search time-frame.
If STILL no result, send me a PM with who you are searching for and I'll look them up for you.
