Many thanks for your speedy response. It was silly of me not to put the date. James Maxwell and Margaret Ness were born about 1770. For a moment I thought maybe I had found them.

found a Margaret Ness 13 dec 1774 weymss Fife Scotland
parents Walter Ness and Catherine Chalmers...
it also shows siblings (lots)
Katherine Walter Janet Grizell Lilias and Alison....
this is on Ancestry and a public tree... but this is all I can see at the moment..
this I think is by somebody Moore
then a.n.other married to a James Millar bn 1781

I am also looking for the Ness family tree. My g- grandmother was Christina Ness married to James McCall. This Ness family were coach hirers, probably from Glasgow area, but settled after they were married in Falkland area. Christina Ness's parents were Robert Ness and Catherine Dounie. Does anyone have same family line?

To Malfred, Sheenie and Down-Under,
I am also interested in the Ness/Maxwell line as I have the following:
Archibald Ness b 1886 Falkland m 22.11.1906 to Janet Maxwell.
Can anyone throw any light on this family for me ... please PM me with photos if you have any. I seem to have hit a dead-end with the McCalls as James does not seem to have had any siblings, so I'm concentrating on the Ness line (my grandfather's mother was Christina Ness)
