Hi everyone...
I am living in Ireland, but am coming to England for six weeks in July. I am particularly interested in visiting Grendon Underwood, Waddesdon, and areas around High Wycombe.
Since I have begun my family research, I have done it all online, but am eager to look up material for myself. (A visit to TNA is also on th list!)
I intend to visit the Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies in Aylesbury, but want to know what I can ask for, or what there is available to see.
Any advice for this trip?
Thanks, Daisy Loo

Hi,
Have you had a look at the Centre's website? (Just "google")
Should be able to get an idea of what's available, opening times, etc.

The Central library at Milton Keynes has a lot of Bucks parish records on film.
And when you get fed up you can always pop across the road and spend some money at the shops
Just incase you were nearer there than Aylesbury.

Thank you both...
I have had a look at the Aylesbury centre, and also at Buckinghamshire FHS...but to be honest, I am confused as to what would be relevant to my search. Rootschat has been so great, in looking stuff up for me, that now I come to do it on my own, I haven't a clue!
I have two family lines that seem to be specific to a village, Waddesdon & Grendon Underwood and then I have various villages where later families tended to move about a bit, around High Wycombe. The parish records is an obvious one...but what else should I be looking for? I sound so simple!

No, haven't got that yet...thought I'd do that nearer the time. Think I'll be heading to TNA with a fellow RC'er, who's been there before
yeah, I'd thought a day at TNA alright, amd thinking 2 days for Bucks...as not only do I want to wallow in papers, I'd like to drive round some of the villages too...you've given me so much there...ideas I wouldn't have thought of looking for...on that A2A page (first link)...I mean, even if papers don't hold my ancestors names, they still give an idea of what life was really like back then...
Much appreciated!

Hi
The staff in the records office are really helpful in Aylesbury so organise what you want in order of priority before you go . Kent to Aylesbury is a real hike so check out a travel lodge in the area. What date do you have in mind? Bucksfhs is having it's open day on 25 July in Aylesbury. Loads of societies go to that and searches can be made on Bucks parishes by the team there. 4 July Grendon Underwood are having a BBQ & fete in aid of the church....good day to meet people there.
Milton Keynes yes great my local ....... Carol how do you get time to shop whilst there?
