Alexander McLUCKIE b. 9 Feb 1839 Govan, Lanark, Scotland
married on 16 Jun 1863 Rutherglen, Lanark
Ann MALCOLM b. 1841 Largs, Ayr, Scotland
Their first three children were born in Lanark, Scotland and the remaining children in Kilkenny, the first Alexander on 15 Jun 1869 and the last Rebecca on 30 May 1876.
Ann and some children arrived in Australia on 13 Oct 1888 on the 'Jumna' and all the other children apart from son Alexander also went to Australia although I can't find that shipping record.
Ann's spouse was the manager of the Jarrow Colliery, near Castlecomer. A reference in the Geological Survey in 1878 and published in 1879 names Mr J Dobbs, proprietor and Mr A McLuckie, manager of the colliery.
I can find no further reference to Alexander so he may have died before they travelled. I believe son Alex was following in his father's footsteps and may not have travelled with the family because of his job, although he may have died too. Certainly, neither of them ended up in Australia.
Being Ireland and being a death and being Kilkenny I'm probably asking too much. But there may be ways of finding out more about them that I've not yet considered.

Hello,
That's great
Thank you very much for the birth of the son and death of the father.
That site refuses to load where I am in SE Asia. As per my topic on the Computer Help board I'm having connection problems with every web site I visit. Some take ages to load and others simply refuse to fully load.
Regards,
Fred

Not sure if this is part of the problem with LDS site but here's a query from someone who had trouble (and the solution): www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,368412.0.html
BIRTHS: Janet 1872 Castlecomer reg. dist. vol.13 p.494 Rebecca 1876 Castlecomer reg. dist. vol.8 page 526
Couldn't find Anne Malcolm.
Here's one you didn't mention: Margaret M'Luckie Jan/Mar/1879 Castlecomer reg. distr. vol.3 p.476
Didn't find William under M'Luckie but under Mc Luckie: BIRTH: William Kerr Mc Luckie 1874 Castlecomer reg. dist. vol.8 page 564

Hello,
Thank you very much. Yes, I forgot Margaret. All I had for her was about 1879.
As well as the variations you have found I've also seen McLuchie. Anne can be Ann or Annie. She is in IGI as Anne Mc Luckie b. 24 Aug 1870 Kilkenny

Fred

Another variation of McLuckie: BIRTH: Anne M Luckie 1870 Castlecomer reg. dist. vol.13 page 507
There's a thread with hints for searching BMD site: www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,357532.0.html

Hello aghadowey,
Thanks very much. I've just installed the latest version of Flash and that's not the problem. So far I can't find Margaret in IGI to get her full birth date. Only death of son Alex to search for now.
A family from Armagh is connected by marriage to McLUCKIE. I have similar queries for that family. Should I start a new topic for them? If so, I'm going to have hundreds of very small topics on this site by the time I go through my tree.
Regards,
Fred

Many, but not all, Irish births 1864-c1882 are in IGI. The Armagh family will need separate thread on Armagh board but think you'd be better to sort out computer problems, search BMD index yourself and then ask for help with any information you can't find.

Hello aghadowey,
Ok, I will create small topics on the appropriate boards. There is nothing I can do re my connection. The problem is with all web sites. Some load very slowly and some load to 80% but never complete loading. At the bottom I see it is hanging on an ad server but I have no ad blocking files or software or such settings on my computer. I've done nothing to my computer in the past week to cause the problem. It has to be external. I have no choice of ISP where I am. It's this one or no internet at all.
Regards,
Fred

Hello,
Fewer sites are giving me problems now but the pilot FamilySearch site still refuses to load past 80%. I have a blank screen so I can't get to the 'Contact' link to send an email to ask if my IP range is blocked.
