Can anyone spot a family likeness? - COMPLETED WITH THANKS
« on: Sunday 22 March 09 12:12 UTC (UK) »

I would be grateful for any comments regarding any family similarities to the man in image A.

The men in the other images represent 3 generations of the same family and they are all definitely related.  Man D is my father.  Man C is his uncle (brother of his mother).  Man B is the father of Man C and grandfather of my Dad.

There is a strong possibility that Man A is first cousin to Man B the father of Man B (for whom I have no image), but because of the surname (Taylor) being such a common one, I am struggling to prove it, despite many, many years of trying.  An opinion on any similarities with Man A would give me hope  Cheesy.

Regards,

Maggie

Hi Maggie

I would say that gent's A and B, (your g grandfather), have the same nose and forehead.  Your dad and gent A seem to have similar eyes.  It looks to me like gent A has a dimple on his chin - is this a family trait?

Don't know if this is much help but hopefully with some more opinions you can come to a tentative decision.

Brief conflab with three people at this end (I was showing what a great board this is to some interested parties!) - we think gents A and B show a remarkable similarity in eyes and forehead, and also in ears.

They are, we believe, most definitely of the same family.

Three opinions at once - what value for money!!   Grin

Hi Jean,

Thanks for your opinion - any opinions of others really help as I have stared at photos of this family branch so much over the years and now I think I only see what I want to see.

I cannot think that any of us have a chin dimple - at least nothing that matches man A, although both our son and I have what could best be described as a slight 'depression' in our chins  Undecided.

Regards,

Hi Maggie

I think man A and your father have similar eyes and mouth and A's ears definitely look like man B.

I have now found the photo.....

This is another of my great grandfather, which may help.  I believe he could be quite a fiercesome man - he certainly looks it in this photo, but I think the eyes are similar.  The two men had very different lifestyles, which could account for the hard look of my gt. grandfather.

Hi Maggie
He look very distinguished, I think we now need the help of someone who is able to put this photo next to the others, then we could get a good comparison of the their eyes.

I agree, but I think the ears have it, finally - they look very similar.

I agree with Trish, I tried googling Taylor and came up with the 12th president of the US!
