Museums often contain useful bits of information of interest to the genealogist.

NOTE:
The Ulster Museum is closing at the end of August 2006 for a period
of a couple of years as the building  requires a certain amount of renovation.

Linenhall Library, Belfast - Link

I hope members of Roots Chat find this proves to be a helpful site. As a matter of interest I checked the word "Genealogy" and was fascinated to learn that the library has 159 titles on this subject.

North Antrim Local Interest List
« Reply #5 on: Monday 31 December 07 14:23 UTC (UK) »

The North Antrim Local Interest List (NALIL) is a group interested mostly in genealogy but also in history, culture, current affairs, industry, geology and architecture. Contributions of members and non-members are welcome on its blog. http://nalil.blogspot.com

There is an interesting item on this site ... an advertisment about the Derrykeighan Tythe Problem, 1758 and a message from the Grand Jury which was published in the Belfast News Letter, 19 September, 1758

Belfast Newspaper Library.
« Reply #6 on: Sunday 30 March 08 13:17 UTC (UK) »

Belfast Newspaper Library has copies of papers available in both hard copy and microfilm format. It is only possible to obtain photocopies from those newspapers available on microfilm but I understand that you may use a digital camera if you wish to obtain information from papers in hard copy format. Unfortunately whilst there are no indexes of all the article in all of the papers the Belfast, Irish and Local studies section of the library has a card index relating to articles about the more important events that occurred over the year. .

Anyone wishing to enquire about or consult the newspapers should contact the library for the most up to date holdings – Newspapers may become damaged and new titles may become available on microfilm.
