Henry Peters of Windsor - can you help?
« on: Sunday 22 March 09 23:14 UTC (UK) »

Henry Peters was born in 1813 in Nutfield, Surrey to George Peters and Elizabeth Sophia Griffies. By the time he married Ann Brown on 9/8/1849 in Eton he was a widower but I cannot find his first marriage nor census details in 1841. Can you help please?

In 1851 they were living in New Windsor with their 10 month old daughter Ann. I know they had a son, Henry Thomas (my ancestor) in 1853 or 1854 but I find no 1861 or 1871 census references. I believe Henry senior died in 1873.

Any help gratefully received.

thanks
Gavin.

Hi Laurina

Many thanks for finding this so quickly. Does it show an address at all? Odd that his wife Ann nor their 10 year old daughter Ann are not showing here.

thanks again
Gavin.

This is wonderful Laurina - many thanks.

Seems quite progressive in those days for a coal merchant to send his daughter to boarding school.

Now I'm just missing 1841 and Henry's first marriage. I might have to look in Surrey for that.

regards
Gavin.

Hi Gavin,

I had a good look for Henry in 1841 but couldn't find him - did glance at the marriages too but none looked obvious.

Sorry about that - maybe someone else might be able to find him for you.

I've also put this query on the Surrey board as he was born in Nutfield and may have lived there at the time of his marriage. To avoid any confusion could you post replies there please?
