St Ita's church Kilmead Athy
« on: Wednesday 17 June 09 12:20 UTC (UK) »

To Celtic Damsel....My father's family came from Athy and I've visited St Michael's RC church there and found quite a lot of info. I recently discovered that they originally lived at Moate which I believe is Ardscull?  I've contacted the parish twice recently, by email (found info thru google) but I've received no reply. Is it possible to view parish records from the church there, and is this something you can help with, as I live in the UK?
Thanks in anticipation.......Pumpkin6

Kilmead is joined with Crookstown. Try the parish priest at Crookstown.

Good luck,

They are grouped under Narraghmore.

Many thanks J T A. I will try "snail mail" as I've had no reply to emails.

Hiya I live in ardscull, near the moat which is an historic site as there used to be a big castle there. If you look up Moat of Ardscull you should get a lot of info.

Hi Maztinks, thanks for responding.I have found lots of info on line re the Moate but nothing that gives me any clue as to whether there was a "settlement" or some kind of community living there. I have had a reply from St Ita's church and learned that the records I'm seeking could be in Crookstown. I have contacted the parish priest there and I'm waiting for a reply.
Thanks once again.....Pumpkin6
