Hi, welcome to Rootschat  Grin

Are you looking in England and Wales or Scotland?  There are different places to look for each.  Have you found them on any census?

I have no background in searching in Ireland, but if you modify the title (go back to first post and click the modify button) to say something like Johnson birth Ireland, you should have more people looking at it that might be able to help.  Grin

http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/ has some of the Irish civil registrations indexed, but they're hard to cross-reference.

You might start with making a timeline for Maggie - born Ireland, then where did she marry, did she emigrate, did family move with her, etc, right up to her death.

For a new person you're doing well so far. You got a lot of reads and a few replies. Keep up the good work.

Did you try the family search site?

Its at http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1408347;p=2;t=searchable

Good luck with your search.

Dara.

Hi,
A word of advice when using the Oaks and Acorns site. I have found it best to just enter the name and then search. When the thousands of names come up you can then use the links at the top of the page to refine the search.

Regards

I have merged your post entitled 'johnston' with your earlier thread searching for information about the same person and the whole thread is now moved to Co, Down (Donaghadee and Bangor are in Co. Down). Multiple postings looking for the same information only cause needless confusion and duplication of effort for those trying to help you.
When posting it is also helpful to use capital letters for proper nouns (names of people and places).
Meanwhile, it's just a matter of waiting to see if you get any more replies with new information or suggestions.
