Hello Does anyone out the have a connection to the Davey Family who lived in Jersey Grouville/Gorey for most of the 1800's. James Davey from Brightlingsea/Colchester was there in 1841 and was a Fisherman/Mariner/Captain married to Margeret Mckeown. There were seven children, that I know of and some stayed, others left. One of the girls Margaret married a Woods, Alfred Porter, I think, not confirmed. Walter Davey married Amelia?
These are my OH direct family through his mother. Both she and her sister visited Jersey and met relatives in the 1930's but we have lost contact. Does anyone have links with this family, I am keen to trace them forward and also back to Brightlingsea/Colchester in Essex. I do have a fair amount of information about the family and would be happy to share.
Thanks very much

Hello - I don't know if there is a connection here, but my g.grandfather John Carter, minister of the Congregational church in Braintree was married (November 1813) to a Phoebe Davey from Felsted. She was a widow who had been married to a James Perry. Phoebe died 5 April 1873 in Braintree. I do not know anything about the Davey Family and would appreciate hearing from you if you think there is a connection. Regards Jack

At the moment I am only back to Brightlingsea/Colchester and I don't have a Pheobe in our family of Davey's. Have you traced her forward, I don't recognise John Carter or James Perry either. Do you have her death certificate/marriage certificates, these may help to pinpoint her with other family. A birth certificate would give her parents names. I looked for a Pheobe Carter in 1841 but couln't see one that matched, have you found her on a census? Sorry to pose so many questions but I can't see a connection.

I have a Daniel Davey (a shoemaker) b. 1797 married to Mary Ann Early b.1799 in Braintree on October 06, 1818. I believe they were both originally from Halstead (or Halsted as is says on the certificate). They had the following children: Alfred b. 1821 Mary Ann b. 1821 John b. 1826 George b. 1828 Emma b. 1830 Walter William b. 1833 Jane b. 1838 Arthur b. 1840
On the 1841 census they were living on Leadingham Lane, Halstead, Essex
I can't see a connection here, James Davey was born in 1819 but I believe his father was a Robert Davey from Brightlingsea. Robert, James, Walter and later Charles, seem to be the key names in this family so although I couldn't rule it out completely, I can't find common ground. Perhaps in time I will get back further. Does your family have any connections in Jersey?

Not that I'm aware of. I'm actually following the Early line and the Daveys were an aside. If I trip over any Daveys from Jersey though, I'll certainly post them here for you.
