mum44, Senhouse st in Maryport I know but what is the significance of Crosby upon Eden? It's miles away the other side of Carlisle and the eden comes out to the solway firth miles from Maryport.

Because Bob, that's the way Ancestry has it.

Instead of being part of Crosscanonby parish, they have it as part of Crosby upon Eden Roll Eyes  A trap for the unwary.

Of course. For years Maryport didn't have a parish church and the hatches, matches and dispatches were all recorded at Crosscanonby. Crosby on Eden must be a mistranscription. Thanks
