Hi Guys

I have been to Leicester today to a LLL Conference or CPD if you prefer. Sorry I couldnt get back to you before.

- Scrimnet - thanks, I can wait! At least you knew what  meant ;-) Thanks for your help!

- Paulene - nope, I havent seen the medal card. I had planned to pay Nat Arc for one. £2 or so for both wars. I thought it reasonable. And YES I think that death record could be him. Its the right age within 12 months and the right quarter as well as naturaly the right initials - well found.... where? may I ask.

Off to Bretton for supper with daughter and grandchildren!

On line again later tomorrow.

Thanks for all your help... did you now complete you Bayleys Buildings searc!

BTW UI should tell you home for me was the south side of the City of B not Tipton area - I drove my Mums drop head Morris Minor over each day to my job!

Keep well? Did t you know my friend whose family from sawly lives on the north side of our Local River where an historic formerly A1 bridge crosses. Theres a big Inn nearby! I sort of think its in East Northants ;-)

You are aware of course, that it is the Northamptonshire Mafia that are working on this for you??

I'm another member of that particularly modest bunch.... Grin Grin Grin

Colin, forgot tosay - yes, I know roughly where Bayleys Buidlings was.
I need to try to work out where the Bayley family (brick manufacturers at Tipton, living in Park Lane House, Park Lane, Tipton in 1911) went to after that. It just seems likely that family who stayed in the area are more likley to have things passed down to them, and maybe have been told where their origns were.
Well, I can hope!

He chose KES over the other scholarship not for the Eton Fives played there, nor for the academic record, nor the Rugger...No, he chose it because they have a thriving Warhammer club there!!! Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Grin

As good a reason as any, I suppose  Grin
I remember talking to a young man once, as I travelled on the bus into town, who was seriously into it. Sounded interesting - requires a particular type of brain, though, I think. Is it all fantasy games or historical battles, too?

All sorts...fantasy, Sci Fi and historical.

There has been for some time "Warhammer Historical" not available in the Games Workshops, but very popular....We do (surprise surprise...) WW1, but have the capabilities for Romans, Persians, Dacians and Celts. Wink

We also have a large Lord Of The Rings collection....

Whooa! Scrimnet ;-)

My Dad was at KES New Street in the 20s! My m other, my Aunt and step mother were all at KES Camp Hill - where did the KES link come from Scrimnett or are you a Northamptonshire White Rose medium (thats bigger than 6 7/8 and smaller than 7 1/2)? He was there with Brigadier Prof Enoch Powell and one traitor who was shot - not by the OTC!

Was it the Eton version that had the buttress? Thats what we had!

Sadly I have to cat-sit for my daughter in Nottingham, otherwise I would love to go, scrimnet.
I'll keep my eye on the  living history thread, though. It's a great thread Smiley
