Hi All
Sorry to butt in.
Paulene I was in your area today, what an amazing place, beautiful.
You didn't pass the Church at all about 2.00-2.30 did you.

Hi Sandy, I came out of my house, and got on my bike at around 3pm (I live opposite the church . I've been working on a friend's family tree, and cycled over to her house to show her what I've manged to find out so far. Funny - I went to Kettering Library about 3 - 4 weeks ago, and looked around in case you might be in there Andrea was on her lunch break apparently - if she had been there I would have asked her to point you out (that's if you had been there). You should have said you were coming, Sandy - I would have popped over to say hello. Paulene

Scrimnet - just found our that you can get them as downloads online (Parish Chest site). There are the Harts ones up to 1914 (hislast one I think), but there are others after that. Not quite sure how the others differ though. Trouble is I don't think they tell you details like place of birth and dates of birth - OR do they!
My bus fares into Peterborough cost nearly as much as downloads these days!

Replying to Paulene.
Ah Bless.
Which way is it you lived by the Church. Is it the hugh old house. We parked in the side street pass the War Memorial.
Hubby only took us your way on the spur of the moment, we visited 3 other villages and didn't get home until gone 7.00.p.m I could hardly walk with the amount of graves I took.
I don't live near Kettering and I do not visit very often.
As to who I am, no need for a description, grey-haired, very large, and 5ft 4" tall.
Anyway it was a lovely day to pass taking War Graves and the Cemetery ones.

No, Sandy - wish it was. It's the thorn among the roses . but it has a nice big garden, which is why we picked it. You're taller than me, Sandy! Glad you had a nice day

You must have photographed/transcribed so many by now, Sandy - what are you hoping to do with them all? You've reminded me I must get on with photographing the churchyard this summer.

Hi again Paulene.
If I ever get round to finishing it I am making an index and obviously the War Graves will be for my project.
I took 530 digital photographs in 4 hours no wonder I was tired.
I took all the readable ones in the Churchyard today and the Cemetery ones up the road.

'Morning Paulene
The Major was born in 1864 which at present doesnt fit any of our candidates and , if I rememeber rightly Lye is Stourbridge. There certainly was a big Brookes contingent.... sorry. family ;-) in Stourbridge but while I knew Stourbridge Regn District reaches well accrss towards Harborne its not actually included. Quinton was but then became part of Kings Norton. So I think the Major is not one of ours but I am readly to be corrected in 9 days time ;-)
Looks misty this am.
Colin

Hello Sandy,
Hello, I read with interest of your grave recording. Well done you!
How far afield has this photographing taken you? Did you by any chance get to any Birmingham Churchyards?
I have some Northern Ireland cemetery photos that I took while looking for my Pentland Roots a few years back. I sent copies to one of the Down Websites where they have loads of grave photos.
In Northants my interests are the Wrights (Shoe & Boot makers) of Kettering and their associations, particularly Snelsons of Abthorpe and Kettering, Ginns of Thrapston, Moorhen of Wadenhow, Grocock of Rushden, Middleton of Towcester. These are the ancestors of my cousin Marjorie who did last Autumn. If you should come accross Graves I'd be chuffed to know ;-) I have lots of their burial iformation and the Wrights had a very strong involvement with the Methodist Church in Kettering.
Thanks in anticipation
Colin PS Marjories Mum Grace nee Snelson was buried in Poole, Dorset as was her Dad Edgar Harold Wright. A bit far afield for you, even?

Remembering those care free days of childhood

Hi Colin.
My Gt Grand-father was a Shoe Manufacturer in Kettering in the late 1890's. I do not think he was as well known as your family though.
My own father had a small factory there and later in life moved to Finedon where he had a Cobblers shop in High Street.
My Grand father belonged to Toller although he was and we are C of E.
Anyway the point refering to grave areas, I only do Northamptonshire unless I am visiting somewhere else, which is not often.
Which area are you living now, please only say if you wish.
I will keep in mind the places you have mentioned.
Sandy

Hi again Colin
I wondered if you knew of the web link that has some of your Middleton surnames M.I.s in Towcester Cemetery.
