For your information, Charles Henry Coxe (with an E) was baptised on 20th April 1828.
In those days his parents Edward & Hannah were camped out on Ditchling Hill (possibly now Dithling Road) where Edward was a Lime Burner.
The baptism records show 2 other children.
Robert James baptised in 1826 when the family were living in Manchester Row
Ann Elizabeth baptised in 1833 when the family were living in Elder Row.

Oh dear BumbleB......Is contacting ESRO my only option or is there something on-line where I can find Charles' siblings. The girls are difficult to find because their names change when they marry. If there is an 1831 census available to search, I think that would have the info....but don't know if it's available 
Forgot to mention that I live in Australia, so am unfamiliar with UK births, deaths and marriages, census' etc. Also mention that a kind soul, Frances, a few years back, found some Cox's for me but I didn't follow this up at the time because I had lots to research re Charles in Aust. Her source was FHL Film. Again, I don't know what FHL is and if I can research that source.

From what you write, you are new to this and probably just feeling your way a bit.
Have a look at Freebmd on the Internet for post 1837 Brighton and Steyning Birth, marriage and death certs.
(Steyning was the then rural district on Brighton's outskirts but included the two villages of Hove and Preston that adjoined Brighton)
Robert sems to have married in Brighton in the June quarter of 1846
FHL film is probably The Church of the Latter Day Saints Family History Library.
Also, if you subscribe to Genes Reunited you will find a Christopher Love, Michelle Backshawl, Zena Moore and Lorraine Sweet who all have your Charles and some of his other siblings in their family tree.
I would suggest contacting one of the above might be a useful way of short circuiting your initial research. Zena Moore and Michell for example have your Edward Cox's birth in the Steyning district in 1798.
Possible Siblings
Zena and Michelle both have James 1843, Albert 1842, Victoria 1838 and Richard 1834. The birth certs of three of these could be applied for and a search of the 1841 census can be done if the address appears to be constant.
The IGI gives Victoria Ann Cox's parents as Edward and ANN (not HannA) on her baptism in 1838
Freebmd says a Victoria Ann Cox married in Brighton in 1859, but gives 2 alternatives for Richard.

Hi Del: didn't realise you were in Australia, however, all is not lost. As Roy G suggests try Genes Reunited. I found a lot of information from there, and have met up with second cousins I didn't know existed.
FHL film - unfortunately the Family Search website is down at the moment, or I would have checked it out for you. Family Search is the wesbite for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons). They have family history centres all over the world and there you can order and view films of parish records which they hold in their main library. Once the film has been ordered and received at the centre you will be able to make appointments to view the film and make your notes. The cost of hiring the film for 3 months is quite minimal - just over £3 here in the UK. The Family Search website has the library catalogue listed and you would be able to search to see if the parish records have been filmed, and they also have a list of their family history centres, but you will have to visit to order the films, you can't do it by phone or e-mail (at least you can't here).
Or perhaps if you Google you will find the Family History Society covering Brighton, and find their website - they may have transcribed the parish records for St Nicholas.

Family Search now up and running - they do have films of the St Nicholas, Brighton. As it appears to be the main parish church there are a large number of films, so you will have to be have a good idea of the period of time.

By the way, is Del short for Adele?
If it is, you have already had a lot of info from my colleague Andy on the My Brighton Messages website in 2006. If not, I suggest you look there too for there is a lot on Charles and his trial in 1847 and transportation to Oz in 1849.

I wonder if these two are also part of the family:
Edward bapt 25 Feb 1821 Steyning
Jane bapt 29 Dec 1822 Steyning
There was also William 17 April 1831 (Brighton)
Vicatoria Ann was 25 when she married in 1859. Richard David Cox (father Edward) married Elizabeth Barnett 20 Aug 1859 in Brighton. He was recorded as aged 24.
This may be Edward and Hannah's marriage:
Edward Cox bachelor of Steyning m Hannah Botting spinster of Ashurst by licence 4 Jun 1820
The licence was issued the day before at Chichester:
Edward Cox, bach 19 upwards of Steyning (6 mnths) with consent of Edward Cox labourer otsp
and Hannah Botting, spinster 22 upwards otsp (6 mnths)
Sponsors were William Stanford farmer of Ashurst and Edward Cox labourer of Steyning.
