I'm tinkering with phpGedView -- same question -- do I get rid of the index file inside the phogedview folder ? - I already have an index page one level up.
It's doing my brain in ..... :-)

NO --- you don't get rid of it !!

you just link to it from any other page
i.e. if phpgedview is in a folder of the same name, then your HTML-link will look something like this:

<a href="./phpgedview/index.htm" target="_blank">

The target="_blank" makes the browser open a seperate window: leave it off, if you want everything in one window.

Thanks for that. Found instructions in the txt a little obtuse. It talks about setting permissions for index --- but it doesn't actually say it means the folder and not just the index file inside it.  I was struggling with that but now it has let me make an admin user thingy - so now I'm sorting some ged information together to upload. (Lots of printed stuff to be input ...groan )

It's going to be a bit cumbersome doing the privacy bits up on the web - it seems slow to respond.

Getting there -- testing the old grey matter - defrag and optimize needed.  :-)

These things are sent to try us!
This morning my log in area of phpGedView admin doesn't want to know me.
Notice all the files go back to 755 not 777 when you log out and went changed those back - but still doesn't want to know. Tearing hair this morning - if it doesn't recognize password of admin I probably will upload phGedView files all over again and start from scratch again.
