Do you have any info on Mary Ann's parents? She doesn't seem to be in my direct line, but I am trying to fill in gaps around the line. My family seem to have originated in Audley in the 1700's/early 1800's then moved to Burslem.
Incidentally the only Mary A Sharman I can see in the area in the 1881 census is in my tree but is 32 years old living in Reid Street Burslem.

Many thanks Alistair for your reply once again.Mary A is listed in the 1901 Census,as 20 years old and the wife of my Great Uncle Thomas Durber.She is definitely listed as being born in Burslem.they are residing at the house of a Hamlet Thomas in Hanley,and are listed as a Brother and Sister in law to the Head of the Household.I myself have also failed in locating her in both the 1881 and 1891 Census'.

No as I mentioned beforein reply to the other thread,I couldn't find him in 1901.As far as my own Williams in the Stoke area,a John Williams birth unknown,married my Mothers sister Violet sometime after 1940,but its estimated he was born around 1915.I have yet to find when they married,but it was Violets second marriage,her first husband Cyril Spencer died in c 1940.Violets maiden name was Durber.

Sorry. I didn't notice until after I'd posted that you were the same person who'd already replied to me.
So far all I know about my Williams are that they married in Hanley in 1910, were still there when my Gran was born in 1916, but were living in Nottinghamshire by 1939.

I can't say whether my Williams Family was in the Butcher Business.It is quite literally all I know,to say my John Williams was born in Stoke in c1915,and married my Mother's sister Violet sometime after 1940.

Many thanks Sue for your interest,and my Cartlidge Family originate in Hanley at around 1800.My earliest definite Durber family are a Thomas born in Burslem in c 1820,who is my Greatx2-Grandfather.On his Marriage Certificate in 1844with his Marriage to Ann Lovatt in Bucknall St Mary,it states his Father to be a Daniel Durber.I have yet to finbd thid Daniel,but I believe he was married to an Ann,and there is probably at least one sister a Jane Durber born in Burslem in c 1815,who married a Thomas Green born in Burslem in c 1815.Any help on the early members of this Durber family,will be greatly appreciated.

Hi WRJones
I noticed you are looking for information on the cartlidge family from hanly in staffordshire are you looking from the 1800's as i have a friend who is a decendant of the Cartlidge family, her GGF Elijah Cartlidge who was born 1815 and his parents were richard and hannah (potters) staffordshire
Later Elijah married a mary harrison in 1835, before moving up to liverpool in the late 1800's.
i would be interested to hear from you if know of any informatiom which would be of help and if you would like any further info just send me a post.

Many thanks for your interest "Bogbrush",however I must confess that I had forgotten about this thread,and from when my last messages were posted on it,I have learnt that I was following the wrong Cartlidge Line.For your information,Charles Cartlidge married Edna Brindley at Norton in c 1820,and they are my Greatx3-Graandparents.It is uncertain as to where this Charles Cartlidge was born,but it could have been in the Burslem area.By 1841 Charles and his family had moved to Hanley.
