Deaths pre 1837
« on: Thursday 26 March 09 18:46 UTC (UK) »

How easy is it to search information on deaths, prior to 1837 statutory registration?

I'm trying to establish when/where a Thomas Bulman (Bap. Irthington 1781 )and his wife Elizabeth Atkinson (Bap. hayton-by-Brampton 1784) might have been laid to rest.

Their daughter, Elizabeth, was married 1835, Wetheral - the parish register records her as a "minor" married "with consent of the natural guardians".

As the witnesses are her brother, Reginald, and a (possibly) unconnected female by the name of Mary Robley, would it be possible her parents are deceased at the time of marriage?

Any ideas, please?

I'd look in the burial records of the parish in which their daughter was married or the burial records of the parish where their last child was baptised (if different).
