Hi

Thank you Orpheus for the correct marriage date.

Maggie May I looked at the Irthlingborough Parish Records
for a marriage for Arthur, couldn't find it and therefore checked FREEBMD
and it is noted as being in 1892 Jun Qtr Bedford Registration District
if the correct person to Martha Ann Twelvetree.

I have just found the baptism at Bozeat, Northamptonshire, on 12 Jul 1795 of John, son of William and Hannah BETTLES.  This is the only baptism in the parish to a William and Hannah and, as it fits in nicely with the marriage of William BETTLES and Hannah SCEAL at Newton Bromswold, I think he must belong to them.  So, it looks like Bozeat may be where William comes from but I still need his age at death to single him out from the crowd.

Incidentally, the above John was living at Hinwick in 1851 which is only 3 or 4 miles from Souldrop.

HI Sandy,
yes you are correct with martha twelvetree(a Variance in spelling over the years)
She married Arthur Berwick it is one and the same.
I wonder whether you could help me a wee bit more and see the date of  when George Berwick Died. We belive he committed suicide but it was  never spoken about in our family. His wife mary bettles went after that to live with her Daughter Lois in South Africa and died there but have no idea when.
We went to England two years ago and looked all round St Peters Churchyard hoping to pick up his grave but never found it so maybe he was cremated. it was quite amazing really as looking around an old man approached us and asked what we were doing and we told him and he said was he a cripple and we said yes as he had polio and this man said he had known him and took us up to where they lived in Scarborough Street in irthlingborough it was all very touching really .
And we wont forget his kindness.
Maggie may.  PS  I would put the time down to the late 1950's that george berwick died.

Hi again Maggie May.

Always glad to assist where I can.  Smiley

The Burials for Irthlingborough that late are still in the Church.

With the River Nene down the road there were quite a few suicides
found in the water throughout the years.  Sad

There is a Historical Society for Irthlingborough in case it is of help.

I have just had another thought Maggie May.  Smiley

If it was a suicide it would have been noted in the paper.

Maybe they can help you with the entry.
