Family history (Gorman from Ireland)

Hi,

I'm new to this so am not too sure about how to proceed.  Anyway, I'm trying to find out some information on my great grandparents: Patrick and Mary Gorman (Kildangan Ireland) I have a picture of their headstone and the dates are listed as follows: Patrick Gorman died Sept 15, 1914 and aged either 53 or 63 years; Mary Gorman his wife died January 2, 1941 and aged 75 years. If anyone has any suggestions or information, please let me know.

An index to the Irish Civil Register is available on familysearch at : http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1408347;p=2;t=searchable

See the Irish Resources board for hints on searching this.The familysearch index  covers dates up from the start of full registration in 1864 to 1958 (plus non-Catholic marriages from 1845).

you can order research certs from the GRO by post -see : www.groireland.ie

The 1901 and 1911 census are in the process of being digitized by the National Archives, and are accessible free of charge at : http://census.nationalarchives.ie/ (1911 data for 9 counties is currently available)
