many thanks for your reply and I agree with all points raised I do understand that there are all sorts of reason but I guess is that like a one horse race I would have put ££££'s on there being at least something visible in the church yard.

How ironic that there is nothing not one inscription I got to the point were I want to crush a grape (not really) but hey maby a visit to HALS will reveal all
who knows.

but thanks to all who help me on this downward journey.

All I can say Paul is that sometimes our ancestors don't want to be found but other times the effort and heart ache they cause is repaid 10 fold when you find some further details.

I am also researching the Searing family from Cheshunt Hertfordshire. I believe from what I have found that they were a poor family so I doubt very much if they have headstones.
If you would like to swap information on the Searing family please get in touch.
