McCarthys and Mulcahys in Rathkeale

My great grandfather was born in Rathkeale, 1864, son of John McCarthy and Mary Mulcahy. Not sure if this is of any use but we know that John and Mary married in Bruff 1855 but the only children we can find are James 1864 and William 1872 (Clonmel, Co Tipperary). it is probable J&M had other children and in Rathkeale but to date I can find no records.

They were RC.

As has already been mentioned there, civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 which is probably why you have yet found any children born 1855-1863. You will need to search for church records (if they exist) to find any possible baptisms for pre-registration dates.
